Uploading and Downloading

Uploading and downloading work basically the same way. You select what you want to transfer, select where you want it to go, and click the appropriate button. Below is an example of how this would work. Below, you can see the files and folders highlighted in the upper left portion of the screen which is the iProject server. There are a few ways you can highlight multiple files or folders:

We've also chosen a folder on the local machine at the bottom, you can tell because it's highlighted. At this point, we would click the 'Download' button in the center, to start the download. After clicking the download button, a preparation window appears. This gets the files ready to download (or upload) and then closes. Once this window closes, you'll notice on the bottom right hand corner of the iProject (showing in the picture below) there will be a progress bar. This tracks the progress of the files you currently have transferring. There's a specific area of the iProject that gives more information about the information being downloaded or uploaded. To view this part of the manual, refer to Viewing Transfer Progress.

Uploading a file basically the same way. We could select files and folders the same way we did above (from the file list on the right) but we're going to do it another way for this example. In the example below, a folder has been selected, but no files have been selected from the area on the right. This is essentially the same as selecting the folder and all of its contents. In the top pane, the root folder has been selected. When we press the upload button, the entire folder on the local machine will be copied to the root folder in the project on the server.

Occasionally, you will have an instance where some of the files you are trying to transfer have the same name as some of the files currently in the place you are copying to. In this case, after the preparation window disappears, you'll be presented with a window like the one shown below. It shows each of the files that has a duplicate of itself in the destination you are uploading to or downloading to. This window will give you information such as the size and modified dates of the files on the local machine and the server, helping you decide whether you wish to overwrite the old file or not. You can select any of the files and click the 'Overwrite Selected Files' button to have iProject overwrite these files, or you can select files that have an 'Overwrite' action already (noted by the last column in the window) and click the 'Skip Selected Files' button to give them a 'Skip' Action. When you've finished, clicking the 'Close' button will close the window, and any files with an 'Overwrite' action will be overwritten, and any with a 'Skip' action will not be copied. You also have the option to click the 'Cancel Transfer' button to cancel the entire action and not transfer anything.

The last buttons in the center are the 'Structure' buttons. Clicking this button when you have a directory selected on the server and a directory selected on the local machine will copy only the directory structure of the folder, either up or down depending on which Structure button you choose. Selecting the root directory in the project, for example, and a folder on the local machine and then clicking Structure with the arrow facing down, would copy the entire directory structure (no files) of the project to the selected folder onto your local machine.
