Alternate Launches

Update Your Java Plug-In

Important: Running iProject Version 1.9.9 as an applet requires a fairly recent version of the Java Plug-In. Follow the link above to find downloads and instructions.

The Standard Applet Launch performs several checks on browser compatibility and configuration, and makes the small adaptations necessary to support various browsers and versions. It can also provide assistance in resolving any problems that may arise. To do these things, it has to rely on JavaScript support in your browser.

Launching the iProject Without Scripts

If you cannot run the stardard launch, or would rather not for whatever reason, you can select one of the alternate links below. Note, however, that you still need the Java Plug-In.

Internet Explorer
Netscape 6 and higher
Mozilla
HTML 4 compliant browsers
Technically speaking, these are browsers that support the <OBJECT> tag.
Most browsers, especially newer ones, will fall into this category.
<OBJECT> was originally a Microsoft-specific feature, but has since been included in the HTML 4 standard.
Netscape (especially older versions)
Netscape-compatible browsers
These are browsers that support the <EMBED> tag.
Netscape and compatible browsers fall into this category, although newer versions also support the <OBJECT> tag.
<EMBED> is a Netscape-specific feature that has been deprecated in favor of <OBJECT>.
Generic and unusual browsers
Browsers that support the <APPLET> tag.
Most browsers do support the <APPLET> tag, though not all will correctly support it with the Java Plug-In.
Try this if the others fail.
<APPLET> was part of the HTML 3.2 standard, but has been deprecated in HTML 4 in favor of <OBJECT>.
<APPLET> will usually attempt to run an applet using a browser's built-in Java support, rather than the enhanced support provided by Sun's Java Plug-In.

Specialized Launches

Relative URL
For reasons we don't understand, some browsers assume that all page URLs within one site are relative. Exactly what that means isn't important, just that it causes such browsers to submit requests to the Web server that are sometimes invalid.
This special launch "dereferences" the absolute URL paths to the iProject binaries, so that the relative requests generated by such browsers appear correct to the Web server.
This launch technique requires Javascript.
You should only try this if customer support tells you to.
