The iProject client must be able to connect to the iProject server in order to communicate and share data. This connection is made using SSL sockets, which are TCP/IP sockets in which all data is encrypted. Thus, if there are packet filters or proxies between the iProject client and server, they must be configured to allow such connections.
Specifically:
If any of these conditions are not met, then the efforts of a network administrator will likely be required to make changes to filters and/or proxies.
Sometimes, connection can fail because of inexplicably malformed requests that prevent the client from obtaining the JAR files it needs to run the iProject client. This type of problem requires the attention of a webmaster.
See iProject Networking 101 for a discussion of sockets and firewalls, and Cross Checking Logs in the System Administrator's Guide for tips on troubleshooting.
